SELF CARE= SELF LOVE

“ THE MOST IMPORTANT RELATIONSHIP YOU WILL HAVE IS THE ONE WITH YOURSELF”

We are constantly battling to endless do lists and expectations. Not to mention the never ending laundry piles. It can all fill overwhelming at times. I can be hard to give your best self, when you running around like the last 20% of your phone battery life. I know I tend to hit the dismiss button. Trying to convince myself I can get a few more things thing done before you run your whole battery out and die. That’s not fair to you or anyone around you. Self-care is not an option it’s a necessity! The goal of life is not to get the most shit done. We are here to experience Life and Love! Taking care of you Mind, Body and Spirit is essential. As a hairdresser, I see the effects of stress and unhealthy habits in hair. Everything internal good and bad comes out in your hair. Healthy in=  Healthy out. That’s why I’m here on my soapbox preaching that good habits are the building blocks to a happy and joyful life.

This Christmas my salon team in Las Vegas surprised me and showered me with the most amazing and thoughtful gifts. All inspiring Self-care including, bath bombs, a bath caddy, wine, books, fuzzy socks, lotions and potions, fuzzy blankets, you name it. All the goods. I was amazed and blown away at how they all came together to gift me all with things that will fill up my cup and allow myself to recharge. It made me think at first, they must think I was super stressed and needed an time out, or they just love me and thought I would enjoy it. I’m choosing to believe the later. Either way, I was beyond grateful for the gesture. You can check out some of the items in this link here.

Since then, I have fallen in love again with taking really long and relaxing baths. I will light a candle, pour a glass of wine, do a hair mask and shave my legs. (all the way up) It’s my time to read a book or jam out some music and just be alone with my thoughts. My kids know... moms in the bath- DO NOT DISTURB. They actually enjoy that I take the time, because who doesn’t want mom to be more chill and happy. Baths have become a ritual for me to slow down and take the time for Me – All my good ideas and clarity come when I am calm. Making it a critical part of my Self Care. A long bath works for me. I could be many things for you.

  • A long walk in nature

  • A moment to write in a gratitude journal,

  • Read a good book you’ve been putting off

  • Time to sip your favorite coffee or tea

Give yourself some grace, allow yourself to pause, and remember your a Badass. I give you permission to explore the small things that bring

joy.

Much Love,

Brooklyn
