DAY 4 / BIG CURLS

Okay, Dirty Girls, it’s Day 4. We are more than halfway through the week, and I am so proud of you guys! This is my favorite day, girls. Today is the day to plan events or dates because you are about to look drop-dead gorgeous. Four days in, you already have a little bit of leftover product in there. It’s got some good texture and memory to support a good curl. Let’s go.

Step 1: Section off your hair

Divide it up

Pin the top half of your hair onto the top of your head to get that out of the way. We are going to focus on the bottom half first. Split that bottom hair into four sections, two on each side. I spray some finishing spray on first because it locks and holds and brushes out really great. Start with your curling iron, I use the Marcell Curling Iron which is used by a lot of professional hairdressers, but any standard iron with tongs would work! Start curling right at the base of your hair, with the barrel facing upwards. Turn your hand with the hair clamped in away from your face, and turn until you have reached two rotations. You want to be able to see each rotation of hair looped over the iron each time. Then, let the hair unravel (but keep it clamped!) and turn it one more time and pull straight out at the end. This gives it that perfect, pulled out curl. The curl next to the first one should curl the other way. So, turn toward your face. Turn the iron around until there are two rotations, like that first section, unravel, and then pull straight out. Repeat on the rest.

Step 2: Curl some more

Rapunzel, let your hair down

Take the hair sectioned up at the top and divide it in half again! We want to be thorough to get that gorgeous curly look. Keep one half pinned up and let the other half down. Repeat all of the curling steps you did on that first bottom section.

Step 3: And a little more

Keep going, you’re doing great!

The very top section that you have left for the end is what everyone is going to see. Split that in half again, focusing on pinning up that front and top section. We want to precise, girls! For this second-to-last section, we want to really focus on each individual curl and have them halo delicately over the top of your head! Use the same techniques as before, but curl smaller sections at a time. You want these curls each of these curls to be as perfect as can be.

Step 4: The Perfect Curls

All eyes on her

These are the curls everyone’s going to look at; they not only have to individually pretty but also be in the right positions to frame your face and give you a chic look! Start by finding your perfect part and letting the rest of your hair fall. This time, we are going to have the barrel facing downwards because we want these curls to go away from your face. Take small-to-medium, deliberate sections, and curl away! When you are completely done with your entire head, let your curls set and cool off for at least 10 minutes! This ensures that they last a little longer, through all that dancing you want to do tonight. Finally, take a little oil or gloss drops to break up the curls. Take about half a drop, rub it between your hands, and grab all of your hair like you are about to put it in a ponytail. Then, just run the oil through the ends of your hair. Bring your curls forward and gently pull the pieces in the front, loosening up those tight curls for a naturally stunning look.

And, you’re done. You are definitely going to turn heads tonight. Don’t have too much fun… or do! I’ll see you tomorrow morning!
